Handmade Artist's Book-From Concept to Bound Mock-up is a full 5 day workshop with artist and educator Susan kae Grant. This workshop has been designed to provide the intermediate and advanced bookmaker the forum to bring a handmade book into realty.  The experience required is simply you need to have bound a book.

The workshop will be filled with discussion of materials, design, and learning various binding structures. Grant will talk about creating plans and timelines for bringing all elements together for your projects. This on its own is an invaluable skill. All participants will construct a preliminary rough mock-up and progress to a finished hard bound mock-up. This finished mock-up can be your final book or you can use it as a start for creating an edition of your artist book. Grant will also guide everyone through different writing exercises to get that part of the brain flowing. There will be many demonstrations of various skills and technique. As a bonus a display of handmade books created by other artists will be available for inspiration.

All the materials such as book cloth, papers and necessary materials will be provided. You need just show up with your laptop, bone folder and ideas. All participants will be sent a schedule, a list of book cloth choices and suggestion for other items to bring. The facility at Photographic Works has large cutting mats, book press, print trimmers and necessary tools to make your time making your book enjoyable and fun. PW will also be printing the images for your book.

You will have plenty of time to work on your book and be guided by Susan Kae Grant. A share and discussion at the end will wrap up the workshop.
