The Steps to a Giclee - Archival Pigmented Ink Print

The Steps to a Giclee - Archival Pigmented Ink Print

The path to getting the finest Giclee print possible is a combination of our technical skills and the best equipment available today. The digital file we create is the foundation for your print.

1

This first step is dependant on what type of original you provide to us.

Flat artwork such as oil paintings, and watercolors up to 4x6 foot are photographed with our BetterLight
digital back creating a high-resolution digital capture of your artwork.

If you work with film, we scan from 35mm slides, 4x5 and 8x10 transparencies or color and B/W negatives.
We scan film on our high-end Hasselblad X5 Flextight scanner or our Fuji 550 scanner.

The digital files submitted by an artist are checked in our pre-flight department to ensure you get the
print you planned.

2

We work on your newly created digital file to match your art in color, density, and fine detail. We use color corrected viewing booths and light boxes specifically designed for evaluating color, and properly calibrated monitors. Remember our goal is a superior digital file; so there are no short cuts or sloppy technique anywhere in our workflow.

3

We then create an 8.5x11 proof or a test strip from your file on the surface you requested. This proof is
an important visual tool for you. It provides an opportunity for you to see exactly what your work will look like
on the paper or canvas you have chosen.

Our walk-in artists
If you are working with us at our location we are here to help you evaluate your proof if you like. We will ask
you to sign the proof and return it to us before we make your final print. We will then return it to you when
you pick up the completed order.

Our ship-to artists
After you have evaluated the proof please email us so we can complete your order. If you have changes
please indicate them in your e-mail. There is no need for you to return the proof to us.
