Slide Resolution
Our film recorder has a maximum image file size of 32mb. This translates to an image that is sized 7.33 inches high by 11 inches wide at 372 ppi.
Getting Started- A Quick Checklist
If your goal is simply to have 35mm slide made from your digital file, this basic Checklist will ensure that you don't encounter any delays, extra expenses or quality problems.
- Set up your files as either .tif .jpg or .bmp
- Set up your files as RGB. Film recorders accept only files in RGB color. If you aren't sure, ask us to check the files when you place the order.
- Set up your files as 8-bit. We can only output file in 8-bit color depth. If you aren't sure, ask us to check the file when you place the order.
- Make sure your file is set up in proportion to 35mm. We find that many files such as digital camera files are not dimensionally the same as 35mm film. In this case it is our policy to float the image on black. When you are creating your own files and wish to ensure that your image will fill the frame at the maximum resolution, size your files as follows: 7.33 inches high by 11 inches wide at 372 ppi
- Please include all fonts that you have used creating your presentation. There is a vast number of fonts in circulation. We want your slides to end up with the fonts you see on your monitor.
- Use only True Type Fonts (TTF) when creating your presentations on the Windows platform. Use only Adobe Type 1 or True Type Fonts (TTF) when using the Mac platform. However, do not mix Adobe Type 1 and True Type Fonts. We cannot accept Multiple Master (MM). Be sure to include both printer and screen fonts.
- Please submit any image files used in your presentation along with your presentation.
- Save your PowerPoint files as a "Presentation Format".
- Files that are not set up correctly will need to be converted in order to produce your order. If you would like us to make the conversion, a charge of 8.75 per 1/4 hour will apply. In most situations a ¼ hour time is all the time necessary.
Tips for Creating Great PowerPoint Presentations
Here are some ideas for making the process of presentation a little better.
- If you need your images to fill the 35mm slide frame navigate to the File/Page Setup menu and select "slides sized for 35mm film." The default is set to "On Screen Show" which will result in an image with black borders on two sides when we output the slide.
- The most pleasing slide presentations have contrast between dark and light. It is best to use a darker background with light text. If you use a really light or white background it can be blinding to the audience.
- Keep your fonts somewhat large to ensure readability. Somewhere between 14 to 18 point at your layout size.
Color Accuracy of 35mm Slide Output
When creating slides for presentations such as a PowerPoint presentation, color accuracy is not considered critical due to the wide color variation in slide projectors. If you need color accuracy please use our LVT Film Output service.
