How to Add Tic Marks to Your File

Basic Information

If you are planning to take advantage of any of our File Ready Services we suggest you add tic marks.
The purpose of tic marks is to easily determine where to trim your prints. There are a number of ways to layout tic marks, the "How To" below is a quick and easy way.

How To Add Tic Marks

For our example we will use an 8"x10" print with 1/4" borders.

Step 1

First size your image to 7.5"x9.5".

Step 2

Change the canvas size. From the menu go to Image>Canvas Size and set the new size to 8.1"x 10.1"

Step 3

Now you will put a stroke around the image.

3a. From the menu go to
Select>Select All
3b. From the menu go to
Edit>Stroke
3c. Set the stroke width to "2 px"
and set location to "inside".
Select All   Edit Stroke   Set the Stroke

Step 4

Deselect all (cmd + D) and save . When you trim your prints simply trim inside the stroke.
